About Anderssons
Anderssons provides private memoir, life-story, and family legacy writing services.
Our work usually involves guided recorded interviews, transcription, editing, editorial shaping, and preparation of a private family manuscript or related document.
Unless agreed separately in writing, our core service is intended for private family use and not for public commercial publication.
Website information
The information on this website is provided for general guidance only.
We try to keep the website accurate and up to date, but we do not guarantee that all information will always be complete, current, or error-free.
We may change the website, services, wording, prices, or availability at any time.
Enquiries
Submitting an enquiry through this website does not create a contract between you and Anderssons.
A contract is only formed when we have agreed the scope of work, price, payment terms, and start date in writing.
We may decline a project if we believe it is not a suitable fit, if the requested work is outside our scope, or if there are legal, ethical, practical, or family-sensitivity concerns.
Services and scope
The exact scope of each project will be agreed before work begins.
A typical private memoir project may include:
-
an introductory call
-
a fixed number of recorded interviews
-
transcription of interviews
-
organisation and editing of the material
-
preparation of a private manuscript
-
one agreed review or revision stage
Additional interviews, extensive rewrites, photo work, printed books, public-facing memoir development, audio, archive work, or other extras are not included unless agreed separately.
Client responsibilities
You agree to provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
You are responsible for checking names, dates, family relationships, sensitive details, and any factual claims in the manuscript.
You are also responsible for telling us if any material is confidential, sensitive, disputed, defamatory, private, or should not be included.
We may advise on clarity, tone, structure, and sensitivity, but final responsibility for approving the content rests with you.
Interviews and recordings
Interviews are recorded for the purpose of preparing the memoir or life-story document.
By taking part in an interview, you agree that the recording may be used by Anderssons for transcription, editing, project preparation, and internal production purposes.
Recordings and transcripts will not be shared publicly without permission.
If a project involves interviewing someone other than the person arranging or paying for the service, it is important that the interviewee understands and agrees to the process.
Fees and payments
Fees will be agreed in writing before work begins.
Our core private memoir service begins at around £2,000, unless otherwise stated or agreed.
We may request a deposit or staged payments. Work may not begin until the first payment has been received.
Any additional work outside the agreed scope may be quoted separately.
Cancellations
If you are a consumer and you enter into a contract with us online, by phone, or away from our business premises, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days.
If you ask us to begin work during the 14-day cancellation period, you agree that we may charge a reasonable amount for work already carried out if you later cancel.
If the work has been fully completed during the cancellation period, and you asked us to begin, you may lose the right to cancel once the service has been completed.
To cancel, email us at support@andersons.uk.
Refunds
Refunds will depend on the stage of the project and the work already completed.
Where cancellation rights apply, any refund will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer law.
Where cancellation occurs after work has begun, we may deduct reasonable costs for time, interviews, transcription, editing, administration, or other project work already carried out.
Revisions
The agreed project scope will state what review or revision stage is included.
Unless agreed otherwise, the review stage is for correcting factual details, clarifying wording, and making reasonable adjustments.
Major restructuring, substantial rewriting, additional interviews, new chapters, extra photo work, or a change in project direction may require an additional fee.
Intellectual Property
Unless agreed otherwise, once all fees have been paid, you may use the finished private manuscript for personal and family purposes.
Andersson & Sons retains ownership of its underlying methods, templates, processes, editing structures, interview frameworks, and production materials.
You must not present our drafts, templates, process documents, or working materials as your own commercial product.
We will not use your private memoir, recordings, transcripts, photographs, or family materials for marketing, publication, training, or public display without your permission.
Third-party material
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to provide and use any photographs, documents, letters, extracts, or other third-party material supplied to us.
We may decline to include material if we believe there may be rights, privacy, defamation, or sensitivity concerns.
Limitation of liability
We will take reasonable care in providing our services.
However, we are not responsible for losses arising from inaccurate information supplied to us, family disputes, disagreement about memories, missed facts, publication decisions made by the client, or use of the manuscript outside the agreed private family purpose.
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
